My
Philosophy
All healing begins with
a philosophy. My orientation is holistic and eclectic. This does not
neglect the more physical views, as I frequently encounter physical
illness or injury in diagnosis and treatment.
Each Client has their own life story, circumstances, values, attitudes,
and beliefs. Although goals are set with the Client, the goal is never
to alter the basic person, but to help them realize the potentials
already there.

Presenting
Problem(s)
This is the problem
(or problems) brought into the treatment situation. It is the obvious, but
not necessarily the real cause of the symptoms. Often, underlying,
pre-existing situations have triggered the treatment need.

|
Diagnosis
A treatment plan
cannot be developed without an adequate diagnosis. To accomplish this, the
Client is interviewed, questioned, a history is taken and some form of
testing is given. The testing serves the purpose of corroborating
impression I may have acquired.

Treatment
Plan
Treatment may be
multifaceted, range from one or more sessions per week (depending on
need), and involve various modalities or techniques. Over the years I have
used the following methods: supportive psychotherapy, brief psychotherapy,
hypnosis, guided imagery, cognitive-behavioral, journaling, and dreamwork.
What treatment is brought to bear is what is needed at the time. As the
Client changes, so must treatment.
In some cases, spouses and/or family members may be asked to become
involved as supports.
The length of treatment, as do Clients, varies. More motivated Clients
accomplish results more quickly, but depth of change and not rapidity is
the hallmark of success.
Email, IM, or IRQ counseling is available under certain circumstances.
This must be arranged on an individual basis.
